What is wrong with my car stereo amplifier?

If someone could please help it would be greatly appreciated! I have an Audiobahn A8000V amplifier in my '95 Volvo 850. It worked great for about 3 months then I blew the fuses. I replaced them and turned down the gain significantly to avoid overpowering the amp. Three months later when the amp was 6 months old, the two 30-amp fuses in the amp blew again and so did my 100-amp fuse between the car battery and the capacitor. The battery is hooked into a 100-amp fuse, which is connected to a 5.0 farad capacitor, which is connected to my amp. Both the capacitor and amp are properly grounded. I don't understand why the amp would work for so long and then just bite the dust like it did. Is this an amplifier problem or something else? Any information would be greatly appreciated by anyone willing to help. Thanks guys!

if the fuses on the amp itself are blowing yet you get sound b4 it happens. everything b4 the amp is good. you should do an ohm drop on the speakers. + to -… with a ohmmeter. if its 4 ohm it should measure 4 ohm +/-1ohm etx. if you get a crazy reading on one speaker its shorting you. throw away..

The purpose of the gain is to match the signal volts RMS coming from the source (CD player, etc.) to the input of the amp.

Here is a guide that will help you set the gain correctly http://www.datafilehost.com/download.php…

You'll need a multi-meter (AC voltmeter), Microsoft Excel and a way to burn an audio CD from an MP3.

If you don't have Excel, e-mail me and I'll send you a condensed version sparky3489@yahoo.com
